Ayub Khalifa Worried About Ineffectiveness After Loss to Crested Cranes

Uganda U20 Women’s National team head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi expressed his worry about the ineffectiveness of his strikers after the loss to Crested Cranes.

He made the remarks after the 1-0 loss to Crested Cranes in a practice match held at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru on a Tuesday evening.

The U20 Women National Team is in preparations for the forthcoming encounter against Kenya of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier slated for this month.

Speaking after the game, despite the loss, Kiyingi was impressed with the performance of the girls in the day.

“It was a very good performance, there was some impressive results although we lost the game but I was a bit comfortable with the way the girls were playing.

He would add on admit that there is a lot of improvements in the team compared at the time the girls came in.

He said “There is a lot of improvement when you look at the way these girls came. The first time they came here they were not in a good shape, but now atleast you can see that we have a team.”

Despite the chances created on the day, Kiyingi’s charges could take up any, something that the head coach says needs serious attention.

“The only problem I saw we need to work so much on our finishing side.he said before adding on “It is a bit tricky in that I need to identify the individuals who are sharp and clinical at the box there. I have tried about three or four during this game but they are not giving me the result I wanted. So I have to go back to the drawing board and pick the ones that can do that work.”

The game revealed more work to be done by the U20 side as they need to work more on converting available chances as the days are fast running before the Kenya test.

Currently the team is in a training camp at the Fufa Technical centre in Njeru as they put final touches ahead of the contest.

The Uganda U20 Women team will face Kenya in the first round of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers with the first leg slated for 23rd -25th September in Nairobi. The return leg will be played between 7th -9th October.
