Charles Lukwago: St George Confirm Signing KCCA Goalkeeper

Ethiopian Giants Saint George FC have confirmed the signing of former KCCA FC goalkeeper Charles Lukwago on a two years deal.

The confirmation was made official on Wednesday September 15th via the club’s official social media pages.

Lukwago arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday to complete his move to the Ethiopian side.

The club also said that the player was to start training with his new team members on Thursday.

Lukwago joined KCCA towards the start of the 2016/2017 season before he was named Captain at the start of the 2018/2019 campaign.

At the Lugogo based side, he won two league titles in the 2016/17 and 2018/19 seasons. He also added two Uganda Cup trophies in 2017 and 2018 seasons.

He was also part of the KCCA team that clinched the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup held in Kigali, Rwanda, their second in club history.

Prior to his move to KCCA, Lukwago previously featured for Lweza FC, Sports Club Victoria University and Proline FC.

He now joins a list of Ugandan goalkeepers that have featured for the Ethiopian side. Posnet Omony, Hannington Kalyesubula, Denis Onyango and Robert Odongkara are some of the Uganda Cranes goalkeepers who have played at St George FC.

Lukwago joins the 12-time Ethiopian Cup winners, who last won a league title in 2017.
