Following the lockdown restrictions put in place by the government, sports came to a halt early June this year.
The Hockey league was already in action and the battle for the champions 2021 will commence this weekend at the Lugogo Hockey stadium.
However, several key transfers have occurred during the mid season transfer window.
As of the month of September, the Historicals who are mainly comprise of Veterans from the youthful Weatherhead Club has completed signing of five players who are Harrison Ntalazi Kinene, Isaac Nuwemwiine, Abraham Kampororo, Emmanuel Matovu Kisakye and Martin Pius Tenhwa.
The Historicals squad has been reinforced with hopes of performing even better at the return of the league this weekend.
City Lions Club has also completed the signing of three players that include Faizol Mbogga, James Kateregga, and Shafiq Muleme.
The Kampala Hockey Club originals have managed to sign Reagan Atwijukire from MUK Stingers who has since been replaced by Maurice Musamba.
Harrison Lutaaya’s move from the MUK Stingers to Kampala Hockey Club Originals is still pending.
Weatherhead Hockey Club has added to its squad Maxwell Mugisha and Raid Kiyemba. The club is still in the process of signing of Bosco Ochan from Wananchi S.C.
Kampala Hockey club has completed the signing of Richard Kaijuka from City Lions Hockey Club.
Deliverance Church Hockey Club is set to confirm the recruitment of Jackline Giramiya from Weatherhead Hockey Club and Winnie Alaro from Wananchi S.C.
Weatherhead Hockey Club currently leads the men’s table with 18 points while Kampala Hockey Club the originals are placed at the bottom with just a point.
Wananchi S.C sits at the top of the women’s table with 12 points and Rhino Hockey Club sits at the bottom with 1 point.
The league resumes tomorrow at 10:00 am with MUK Stingers playing against City Lions.
