UPL Transfers: Former Express Midfielder Joins Police

Uganda Premier League side Police FC have completed the signing of former Express FC Midfielder Shafic Avemah, The-SportsNation has learnt.

Avemah joins as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Somalia Premier League side Elman Sports Club. He had joined the side in October 2020 penning a one year employment contract.

Prior to joining the Somalia based side, Avemar was among the players released by Express FC after the end of 2019/20 campaign. The Midfielder was part of the Red Eagles squad that competed in the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League season, then under the stewardship of Coach George Ssemwogerere.

Avemah is an offensive midfielder who can be deployed in various places upfront and he brings in more options going forward to the Abdallah Mubiru coached team.

In the ongoing Transfer window, Police have reportedly signed Maroons right back Eddie Kapampa.

In the process, they lost right back Denis Rukundo and Ben Ocen who left for Rwanda, while striker Derrick Kakooza signed for Valmiera in Latvia.

The club also let go of a pool of players in July that included striker Henry Kisekka, Musa Matovu, Edward Kiryowa and Bashir Kabuye. Defender Henry Katongole is the latest player to have left the Cops.

With just a day to the closure of transfer business, the Cops are linked with a number of players and might be unveiled on deadline day.
