Team Uganda Returns With 10 Medals From School Games In Serbia

Uganda’s contingent is back from Serbia after success at the ISF U15 World School Sports Games.

The team landed at Entebbe Airport on Monday at 10:35pm and received by FEASSSA President Justus Mugisha.

The team won 10 medals including six golds!

The 3×3 Basketball team comprised of Brighton Galiwango, Mathew Kisakye, Lionel Agaba and Wycliff Birungi beat Serbia in the final to clinch gold.

Loice Kwemoi (1500m Girls), Jacinta Katushabe (400m Girls), Victor Cherotich (1500m Boys), Brenda Chekwemoi (800m girls) and Levi Kitui (800m Boys) also won gold each.

Uganda also won silver in the Swedish Relay (100-200-300-400m relay) – Lydia Nyakato, Brenda Chekwemoi, Loice Chekwemoi, Jacinta Katushabe.

Uganda also clinched bronze medals in the 4x100m Girls – Lydia Nyakato, Jennifer Namuwonge, Loice Chekwemoi, Jacinta Katushabe.

There was also a bronze medal each in the Team Competition and the Singles of Table Tennis.

Uganda was represented by 25 athletes in six disciplines – Athletics, Badminton, Chess, 3×3 Basketball, Swimming and Table Tennis for the September 12-18 games.

The contingent will be held to a luncheon by First Lady and Minister of Sports and Education Hon Janet Kataha on Wednesday.

Athletics – Jennifer Namuwonge, Jacinta Katushabe, Lydia Nyakato, Loice Chekwemoi, Levi Kituri, Victor Cherotich, Brenda Chekwemoi, and Awelo Fiona Mukasa

Badminton – Kate Ndagire, Akbar Oduka, Eric Ofuyuru and Nazifay Nakiyemba are for badminton.

Table Tenis – Timothy Wotti, Juma Wabugoya, and Imran Luwooza

Chess – Maria Nakanyike and Mathew Mwase

3X3 Basketball – Brighton Galiwango, Mathew Kisakye, Lionel Agaba, Wycliff Birungi

Swimming – Shane Birungi, John Kafumbe, Karimah Katemba and Elizabeth Nagayi
