In the bid to see that the game of local Basketball takes significant strides, FUBA has moved to interest Buganda Kingdom to the sport.
Fuba president Nasser Sserunjongi, General Secretary Hudson Ssegamwenge and Sliverbacks players paid a courtesy visit to Bulange, Mengo where they interacted with Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayinga.
The Katikkiro in his remarks applauded the Sliverbacks for their gallant performances at the recently concluded Afrobasket Championships in Kigali.
Team captain Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, Ben Komakech, Tonny Drilleba, Titus Odeke and Ivan Muhwezi were the players that went to Mengo in company of team Managers Hajji Mohammed Santur and Grace Kwizera.
Sserunjongi put it blantatly to the Katikkiro that lack of basketball facilities has curtailed the growth of the Sport in the country, and to counter that problem, Fuba solicited for support in form of land so as they can construct a standard facility.
Fuba also raised the idea of an annual basketball tournament to honor Kabaka’s birthday.
Sserunjongi reckoned that FUBA faced a host of problems in the recent past and they’re exploring all avenues to develop the sport.
