Pictorial: Crested Cranes Start COSAFA Campaign With Draw

Thursday, September 30
*Namibia 0-0 Uganda

Uganda Women’s national football team, the Crested Cranes, started their COSAFA Women Championship campaign with a draw with Namibia.

Nothing could separate both sides at the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Uganda will rue missed chances on the day, even the introduction of Laki Otandeka, Aminah Nababa and Spencer Nakachwa was not enough to hand the side a win.

“We came purposely to get maximum points,” started coach Hamza Lutalo after the game. “We hope to do better in next games.”

“Its the players that have to play. They have to show us what they can do. The draw was not exactly what we wanted. We created the chances but we failed to score.”

Uganda who is using the match for African Women Qualification tie against Ethiopia, will face Eswatini on October 3 and Zambia two days later.
