Peace Proscovia signs for English side Surrey Storm

Uganda She Cranes shooter and captain Peace Proscovia has joined English outfit Surrey Storm ahead of the 2022 season.

The Warid Tower as she is fondly known in local netball circles has been clubless since expiration of her contract with Australian side Sunshine Lightning midway this year.

The development, however marks Proscovia’s return to the coveted Vitality Netball Super League having featured for Loughborough Lighting between 2015-2019.

During her initial spell, she established herself as one of the most prolific goal shooters helping Loughborough Lighting to progress into two Grand Finals and won a British Fast All-Stars Championship crown.

The 31-Year-old said that she had faith that a return to England was inveitable.

“I feel blessed to be given this opportunity,” said Proscovia. “I never thought that I could be offered a contract in England again but had faith that somehow one day I will get back.

“I have always admired Mikki [Austin]’s style of leadership and exited to be coached by her. I can’t wait to get back to England,” she added.

Surrey Storm Head Coach Mikki Austin talked glowingly of Proscovia’s recruitment, “We are thrilled to welcome Peace Proscovia to Surrey Storm.

“She is a class athlete who brings a wealth of skill, experience and accuracy to our squad, her achievements at Loughborough lightning and Sunshine Coast lightning has made her one the world best goal shooters.

She is also an incredible human being who will be such value added to our team environment.”

Proscovia’s arrival at Storm marks a real statement of intent from Mikki Austin’s team.

At international level, Proscovia is captain of the She Cranes team since 2013 and has played at the 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cup as well as the 2018 Common Wealth Games.
