Much at stake as Uganda and Zambia meet at Nelson Mandela Bay stadium in their last group game at the ongoing 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

Its ‘win or go home’ for the Crested Cranes who sit second in group C with four points.

The top team in each group and one best runner up of all the three groups reach the semifinal.

South Africa (A) and Tanzania (B) have already secured their semifinal slots but Zambia who are on six points in Group C will join them as Group C winners if they at least avoid defeat against Uganda.

The spot for one best runner up currently has Malawi on six points and a goal difference of 2 in Group A. However, with Zambia on six points and a goal difference of 8, they can even qualify as best runners up if they lose by not more than six goals against Uganda.

“We have made adequate preparations, our opponents are good but we know what we want. We want to play and win the game,” said Uganda coach George William Lutalo ahead of clash with Zambia.

After a goalless draw with Namibia, the Crested Cranes beat Eswatini 5-1 thanks to a brace from Hasifah Nassuna and a goal each from Sandra Nabweteme, Joan Nabirye and Riticia Nabbosa.

The Copper Queens on the other hand, saw them beat Namibia 3-0 with goals courtesy of Captain Grace Chanda, Margaret Belemu and Mary Wilombe.

Zambia who qualified to the 2014 and 2018 Africa Championship, have also reached at the semis of the COSAFA in the last four appearances.

They were semi finalists last year, beaten at the finals by South Africa in 2019, third and fourth in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Namibia who have one point and Eswatini with zero meet in the other match in the Group C at the Madiba Stadium on Tuesday. Both teams have no chance to progress to the next stage and will be playing for pride.
