U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Uganda Out To Get Job Done

Friday, October 8
*Uganda Vs Kenya – 4pm

Uganda will seek to finish off the job against Kenya at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende in the African U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Uganda beat Kenya 7-2 at Nyayo to take a big advantage into this tie.

Juliet Nalukenge and Sumaya Komuntale each scored a brace while Fauziah Najjemba, Margaret Kunihira and Shamirah Nalugya added a goal each.

Shaylene Opisa scored a brace for Kenya in the loss.

“We go into Friday’s game with full focus and commitment and our target is earn maximum points. I believe Kenya have made better preparations than the first leg and will come in better shape,” Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi told FUFA media.

“I have tried to emphasize to the players that the job is not yet done. We had the same scenario with the U17 team two years ago when we lost 2-1 away in Tanzania, our opponents despised us in the return leg and we ended up winning 5-0 at home.”

Per FUFA media, Midfielders Shamirah Nalugya and Shakira Nyinagahirwa had slight knocks but have both recovered and will be available for selection.

Kenya needs to win 6-0 to progress to the next stage but Uganda will fancy their chances on Friday.

If Uganda gets past Kenya, they will face winner between South Africa or Mozambique at the second round.
