Uganda Premier League Champions Express FC striker Eric Kenzo Kambale is yearning for more glory ahead of the new 2021/22 UPL season.
The new Uganda premier league season is slated to kick start this week on Friday 15th October, with a number of teams in action, including defending Champions Express.
Last season as Express FC clinched the league title, their seventh in club history and their first since 2012, Kambale was in rich form, scoring goals in and out and was the main man at the Wankulukuku based side.
The forward scored 15 goals on his name, one goal below last season’s top scorer Yunus Sentamu who had 16.
While Speaking to the Club’s media on Tuesday this week, Kambale started by expressing the team’s readiness ahead of the new season.
“The new season is here and we have given everything to be ready,” Kambale told the club’s media.
“As a team we had a bumper schedule last season but we were determined and motivated.I believe we still are and we shall perform very well.”
Kambale, typically known as a playmaking attacking midfielder, was thrown into the deep water of the striking responsibilities when George Ssenkaaba got injured midway through the season.
Surely he didn’t disappoint in his new role as he lifted the Wasswa Bbosa coached side, scoring goals match in and out. Adding on that, he assisted as many and also put up player of the match performances against Kitara, Kyetume, Onduparaka, URA and Wakiso Giants.
And now with the days fast approaching to the new season, Kambale believes he can do much better and vows not to rest his boots.
“Last season for me was great but I want to do better and I believe I can achieve it beginning with our first home league game this Friday.”
Express will start their title defence Campaign this Friday, hosting new UPL entrants Arua Hill SC at the Betway Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku.
This being their first game in the season, Kambale will be looking forward to getting off the mark when they host the West Nile based side.
