*Final: Betway KOBs 14-00 Heathens

Betway KOBs extended their dominance in this year’s National Rugby 7s after winning the Soroti sevens, their third win from as many circuits.

The defending champions beat Heathens 14-00 in the final to move 11 points clear on the log.

Heathens who denied Pirates another trip to the final courtesy of a 10-05 win in the semi, had shown resilience in the final before conceding a penalty try.

Norbert Okeny was sin-binned after an obstruction offence on Adrian Kasito for the penalty try.

Aaron Ofoyrwoth knocked-on just inches out from the line as Heathens lost their biggest opportunity to put points on board, before KOBS took a 07-00 cushion at the break.

Kasito crushed over later in the second half, and despite huge protests from the Heathens players, assistant referee Raymond Kisekka was convinced and KOBs Try stood.

Kasito split the uprights thereafter to put the game beyond Heathens reach.

Heathens remain third but move within two points adrift of second placed Pirates who has 55 points after finishing third in Soroti.

The victory puts KOBs in strong position to defend their 7s title, with three circuits (Kabale, Rujjumba and Coronation) still to come.
