Big Reward Awaits KCCA FC Top Scorer – Chairman Martin Ssekajja

KCCA FC chairman Martin Ssekajja has promised huge rewards to the eventual Club’s top scorer in the upcoming 2021/22 Uganda Premier league season.

This he said at the club’s flag off event held at the Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday ahead of the new season.

In the just concluded transfer window, the Lugogo based side had a busy transfer market, Signing up to 11 players and promoted two youngsters to the senior team.

Speaking about the new recruits, Ssekajja says these players are self motivated and that’s all they needed.

“The Kind of players we have brought in are players that are self motivated. So we want motivation to be personal in otherwords to come from within. Of course collectively, we believe we shall work with the technical staff to build this team,” he said.

“To any player joining a club like KCCA, one must have it in mind that he is joining a side whose demand for excellent results from the board and the fans is well scripted.”

And the Chairman says that they passed on their target to these new recruits.

He said: “We passed on our target to them, they are aware of the expectation that is the main motivation. The other motivation that we do undertake is really a token of appreciation from our adminstration and in the past we have done this, we have always given the top scorer sometimes land titles, We pledge to do the same this year.”

For the past two seasons, the club has not won any trophy since the 2018-19 season. Last season, they finished fourth on the UPL log, ten points below league Champions Express FC.

Despite the poor season, their forward Charles Lwanga ‘Neymar’ stood out for his side, going on to score 11 goals in the league.

With the new UPL Season underway, Ssekajja has promised some big reward to the eventual Club’s top scorer and to the rest of the players.

“If they win the league title and the top scorer hits the target, we shall be giving them some good rewards as we have always done. We also have other incentives, normally they get winning bonuses of the trophy. Whatever bonus we get out of winning the trophy we give out the biggest percentage to the players and technical team. They will have to put that at the back of their minds,” Ssekajja added.

On the same event, head coach Morley Byekwaso named goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan as new club captain and will be deputized by Gift Ali Abubakar, Denis Iguma and Julius Poloto.

Following their busy transfer window, the club will be hoping that the new signings can be similarly transformative in the upcoming Uganda Premier league Season as they are headed for a new lease of life.

Byekwaso’s side will start their new UPL campaign playing away from home against Wakiso Giants on Sunday 17th October at the Wakissha Resource Centre.
