Busoga United beat newcomers Gaddafi FC in a mouthwatering Jinja Derby at Gaddafi Arena on Monday.

Second half goals from Elvis Ngonde and Anwar Ntege handed the visitors a win in a game watched by a sizeable crowd.

Goalscorer Ngonde later recived marching orders from referee George Olem for a second bookable offence.

The Visitors, who were at one stage scrapped off the league fixture due to lack of registered players, managed to put aside off-pitch struggles to stage a commendable performance.

Gaddafi FC started with four former Busoga United players – Joel Madondo, Faisal Muwawu, Mark Bamukyaye and Franco Onen – but the move failed to pay off.

Gaddafi will have their goalkeeper Paul Mujapani to blame – He miscalculated a long ball from Anthony Mayanja which allowed Ntege find Ngonde who scored in an unguarded net.

He should have done better to deny Busoga the second goal but despite diving to the correct side, he could not keep out an effort from Ntege.

Gaddafi, branded by some pundits as a strong contender for top places due to their organisation, failed to sustain their attacks on the day.

Umar Kyeyune missed a golden opportunity when he shot poorly after he was teed up by Joel Madondo.

Andrew Waiswa had his header denied by Michael Nantamu while Alex Kitata shot direct at the keeper late in the game.

What Next – Gaddafi FC visit KCCA FC on Friday, the same team Busoga United will play next on October 27.
