SC Villa Confirms new Club Captain

SC Villa greek head coach Petros Koukouras has named goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige as the new Club Captain ahead for the new UPL Season.

Kibirige takes over his new role from defender Asuman Harishe who left the club at the end of last season and the Captaincy position has been vacant since then.

The club also confirmed that the former Tooro United goalkeeper will be deputised by former U20 Captain Garvin Kizito Mugweri.

Emmanuel Alex Wasswa, who joined KCCA FC, was the assistant captain last season.

Previously, Kibrige captained the Uganda Sand Cranes as they finished fourth at the maiden 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Beach Soccer tournament held in the City of Saly Senegal earlier this year in May.

Kibrige, a former Vipers SC player will be tasked to lead a Youthful SC Villa side, as seen from their new recruits acquired from the just concluded transfer window.

The club acquired many youngsters as they seek to have a new look this season. Among the signed youngsters are Ismail Mugulusi, Ali Bayo, Kenneth Ssemakula, Oscar Mawa among others.

With the new Uganda Premier League already underway, Kibrige’s side are yet to play any league game given the fact that they didn’t appear on the UPL Fixture released by the Federation.

However, a club Statement on Friday this week claimed that they will start their league campaign on Matchday two against Arua Hill on October 23.

With this being said, the Joggos will have to wait for official communication from the Federation to give the a go ahead on whether they will take part in the new UPL season.
