Preview: BUL Eye Perfect Start
BUL FC will be eyeing a perfect Start to the new 2021/22 Uganda Premier league seasons when they host Police FC at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.
This will be their first game of the season given that their would be opponent on Matchday one SC Villa was not cleared by FUFA licensing Committee.
Last month, they were slashed 8-1 in the Uganda Cup final by Vipers, but left with heads high having reached their first cup final in a run that saw them oust Express.
Ahead of the new season, they start the league campaign with a new coach in Alex Isabirye who was handed a two-year employment contract on his return to the club.
The Jinja based side were highly involved in the recent Transfer market, signing a couple of new players as they seek to have a new shape.
In one of his remarks during the pre-season, Isabirye commented that they target a top four finish in this season.
Ahead of their first game, Isabirye had this to say: “We have been training for the last two months. We are very ready for Police FC. Police is one of the strongest teams in the league. If we are to win something, we have to win this game.”
Last season, BUL FC won five of their 13 home games in the league at a home, a record they must improve if they are to get a place in the top half of the table.
Police FC Seek To Make Amends
Police will be seeking to bounce back with Victory when they face the Isabirye coached side on Friday.
The Cops lost to Vipers SC 2-0 in their first game of the season played on Sunday at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Last season, the Abdallah Mubiru coached had a decent start in the league, winning four of their first six games of the campaign and were seen as potential title contenders.
However, midday way in the season, they failed to keep up the momentum as they kept on having mixed results, ending up in 6th position with 42 points.
And now, having lost in their opener, Mubiru is targeting his first three points.
“We are targeting maximum points against Bul FC. We are ready to make changes and hopefully we have all the players whom we didn’t have last time because of licence issues,” Mubiru said.
“Statistics don’t favour us because we have always lost to them at their home ground but that has motivated us more and we are ready to get maximum points tomorrow.”
Last season, Police beat BUL at Lugogo 2-0 thanks to a goal each from Johnson Odongo and Brian Muluri.
