*Bright Stars 0-1 Onduparaka
BUL FC earned a perfect Start to the 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season after their 2-1 win over Police FC at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe on Friday.
BUL FC bossed with fresh legs having missed out on matchday one after their would be opponents SC Villa had not met FUFA Licensing requirements.
Goals from attacking midfielder Ibrahim Mugulusi and forward Richard Wandyaka handed Alex Isabirye’s side a bright start to the new season.
Brian Muluuli Mayanja on the other hand scored the only goal for the Cops who suffered a successive defeat.
The hosts started the better side, having most of the possession, creating chance after chance and it wasn’t a surprise when they scored first.
Martin Aprem would have put Isabirye’s charges ahead but missed with just a keeper to beat in the third minute of the game.
The endless attacks paid off through Ibrahim Mugulusi who scored from a well taken free-kick in the 37th minute to give his side the lead.
However, danger man Muluuli levelled matters with a perfect header in added minutes of half time, putting the Cops back into the game.
With just three minutes into the second half, Wandyaka restored his side’s lead to put them ahead again, a goal that later turned out to be the winner on the day.
Police’s only best chance to level matters again came in the dying minutes of the second half, but substitute Herman Wasswa’s header just hit the crossbar.
Isabirye’s men held on and defended tirelessly to the final whistle to take all the three points.
It is a perfect Start to head coach Isabirye who is assembling a new team, having acquired as many new faces in the just concluded transfer window.
For Abdallah Mubiru and his charges, they suffer a second consecutive defeat in the season having lost 2-0 to Vipers SC in their league opener on Sunday.
