Onduparaka FC picked maximum points thanks to a 1-0 victory against hosts Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Centre.

Dudu Ramathan scored the only goal of the game when he headed in from Rashid Okocha’s corner at the half-hour mark.

Bright Stars missed a golden opportunity when Joseph Janjali failed to connect from Andrew Kaggwa’s delivery.

Captain Nelson Senkatuka was denied space by a resolute Onduparaka FC defence before he was offloaded by Augustine Kacancu in the 78th minute.

“We lost the game which is very painful, though we have made improvements from the first game we played in Mbarara,” stated coach Baker Mbowa.

“We are still lacking that ability to put the ball at the back of the net but at least we tried our level best today despite the result.

“I am still hopeful that we shall improve and rediscover our form last seasom. Onduparaka converted their only chance but we had many scoring opportunities which we failed to put at the back of the net.”

The victory takes Onduparaka to four points after a 1-1 opening home draw with UPDF last week.

Its a poor start for Bright Stars who have suffered successive defeats – They were beaten in Mbarara 3-1.

It should be remembered that Onduparaka beat Bright Stars 1-0, thanks to Emmanuel Oketch’s goal, last season at Kavumba.
