CAF Champions League: Lwanga’s Simba Out, 16 For Group Stages Revealed

Simba SC were ousted of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League after falling 3-1 to Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy in a return leg battle at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday.

Its a shock exit for Simba who came into the match bossing with a 2-0 away win.

Rally Bwalya scored with a left foot effort to hand Simba a lead at the break.

Rudath Wendell levelled matters for the visitors just at restart, and he gave Jwaneng a lead when he was unmarked to bundle home from close range in the 60th minute.

Simba were then punished for poor defending that allowed Gape Mohutsiwa to head in a cross off the left with just four minutes left on clock.

The tie was level 3-3 on aggregate but the visitors walked on to the group stages thanks to away goals rule.

Taddeo Lwanga played for 72 minutes before he was taken off for Erasto Nyoni.

The group stage draw will be held in the due course at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
