Wakiso Giants Rejuvenate Against Troubled Police

Wakiso Giants put up a spirited performance as they edged Police FC 1-0 at the Omondi Stadium Lugogo.

Defender Edward Satulo scored the all important goal as the Purple Sharks got off the mark this season.

The Purple Sharks were without head coach Douglas Bamweyana to fuel rumours about his resignation.

Despite all the happenings, Wakiso under Alex Gitta, put everything aside and put up a spirited performance against the Cops.

They started the better side, dominating play and created chance after chance .

Bogere got the first chance of the game in the 34th minute but shot straight to the goalkeeper when put through on goal by Amos Muwonge.

Three minutes later, the Visitors broke the deadlock through Satulo who tapped in home after goalkeeper Tom Ikara parried into his path following Moses Aliro’s free-kick.

It was all wild celebrations from Wakiso Giants fans headed by Director Musa Atagenda who attended in person to cheer his side.

At the restart of the second half, Police returned a more rejuvenated side having had a poor start in the game as the Visitors sat deeper.

Wakiso’s goalkeeper Derrick Emukule was called into action just at the second half resumption. First he saved Brian Muluuli’s shot while in the area before later saving Juma Balinya’s outside the area.

On the other end, Amos Muwonge almost doubled his side’s lead but when on the countertop but he headed straight to a well positioned Tom Ikara.

There on, the Visitors defended tirelessly as they sat deep to bag all the three points on the day.

Victory saw Wakiso Giants register their first win in the season, having lost their first two opening games in the season against KCCA and Vipers respectively.

For Abdallah Mubiru’s side, they suffer a third defeat in the season in a row, having lost to Vipers and Bul FC in their first two opening games.

What Next for Both Teams – Police will play SC Villa away from on Friday October 29th at Kavumba Recreation grounds while Wakiso Giants will host Busoga United the following day
