Rwothomio Bags Brace To Complete URA Comeback

Friday, October 29th
*URA FC 3-1 UPDF

Striker Rwothomio Cromwel scored twice as URA FC came from down to beat UPDF FC in their first league game of the new season.

Substitute Viane Ssekajuko was also on target to hand the Tax collectors maximum points after Simon Mbazira’s well curled freekick had given UPDF the lead in the first half.

Its a brilliant start for URA FC who missed the first three match-days due to their CAF Confederations Cup qualification campaign.

However, they trailed at the break after Mbazira broke the deadlock from a freekick in added minutes of first half.

Rwothomio levelled matters off a well taken cross from leftback Derrick Ndahiro after a nice interplay with Moses Sseruyidde.

URA pressure paid off with two substitutes Ibrahim Dada and Ssekajugo combining to give the tax collectors the lead. The former Wakiso forward beat Goalkeeper Waswa Yusuf from the near post.

Rwothomio completed his brace after a nicely timed header off Ashraf Mandela cross via good work from Kabon Living.

The loss is the first for the Army side who remain on four points after two games.

The hosts got the first sight at goal when Benjamin Nyakoojo headed wide from Moses Sseruyidde’s corner.

URA FC were in control and almost took the lead when Brian Bwete almost costed his team after his low pass was met by Rwothomio who laid the ball to Shafik Kagimu but his shot was over the bar with the goalkeeper alread beaten.

URA FC could have scored more but both Rwothomio and Saidi Kyeyune were denied by the woodwork.

Goalkeeper Bwete made a decent save to deny Joachim Ojera who beat Leftback Simon Mbazira.

For the visitors, Kigozi Ambrose failed to tap in Musa Mudde pass which was calmly collected by Goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.

Kigozi almost got the better of Alionzi but defender Hudu Mulikyi cleared the lines.

What next for both sides – Both teams will return to action on Tuesday 2nd November. UPDF will host Gadaffi FC at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground while URA will travel to Arua to take on new entrants Arua Hill at the Barifa Ground.
