PREVIEW: Can Bright Stars Stop KCCA FC?

Bright Stars will be targeting their first win of the season when they host a flying KCCA FC side that is currently on top of the UPL log.

Baker Mbowa’s charges are still winless in their opening three games after losses to Mbarara City, Onduparaka and Gaddafi in the process.

The streak is six league games without a win, which stretches from last season having failed to beat any of Onduparaka, Vipers and Police in their last three games of the 2020/21 season.

And now they face a KCCA side that has won all their four opening games and currently sit at the top of the log.

However, despite KCCA’s good run, Bright Stars head coach Baker Mbowa is optimistic that they can get their first three points on Tuesday.

“Yes they are on top of the league, had a good start and have collected maximum points but we are in the same league with KCCA, so football wise and we are going all out for the three points,” Mbowa stated.

“The boys are in good mood and are ready for tomorrow’s encounter because they are eager of getting three points from any team. So we don’t consider any team to be big to us because we are playing in the same league, hopefully I know we are good to go.”

Against a KCCA side, they will need to be at their best and utilise all the available chances if they are to get any positive result in the game.

On the other hand, the visitors have won their four opening games and are currently table leaders.

In the process, they have scored eight goals and conceded only one. Surely it’s a dream start for Morley Byekwaso who is having his first full Season as head coach for the Lugogo based side.

However despite the bright start into the season, Byekwaso anticipates a tough contest, but is optimistic they will get a positive result.

“Generally the game is to be so hard because the opposition we are facing has ever defeated us 2-0 nil So I think they still have that belief given the fact that they are playing at home,” said Byekwaso.

“But we are going to manage this game in a way we have done in our Previous away games and I think we shall overcome that hurdle.”

KCCA will bank on the fact that they have picked maximum points in their first two away games against Wakiso Giants and Busoga United respectively.
