CECAFA Women U20: Eritrean Players Disappear In Uganda Again

Eritrean players have gone missing at the ongoing 2021 CECAFA Women U20 Championship in Njeru.

CECAFA Communications Department has confirmed that five Eritrean players have disappeared
from their Hotel in Jinja on Tuesday morning.

Eritrea have lost two opening games at the ongoing CECAFA Women U20 – They were beaten 1-0 in the opener against Tanzania last Saturday and fell 5-0 to Ethiopia on Monday.

The side is expected to return to action on Wednesday against hosts Uganda.

Cecafa department has stated that the matter has been reported to the Police in Jinja, and investigations are on-going.

In 2019, October, five Eritrean players disappeared from their hotel during another CECAFA tournament in Uganda.

About 14 members of the Eritrea soccer squad disappeared in Uganda during a Cecafa tourney.

Many Eritrean have disappeared in neighbouring countries to seek for greener pastures.
