Late Express Winner Rubs More Salt In Police Wounds

Tuesday, 2nd November
*Arua Hill 3-2 URA
*Vipers 1-0 Onduparaka
*Bright Stars 1-1 KCCA
*Police 1-2 Express
*BUL 1-0 Mbarara

George Ssenkaaba scored in injury time to secure a win for Express who compounded Police misery at Lugogo.

The game was heading for a stalemate when Juma Balinya cancelled out Deus Bukenya opener.

Bukenya put the Red Eagles in the 12th minute lead from a freekick after Eric Kambale was brought down.

But Balinya brought the game level with a solo effort to give Police reprieve before Mahad Yaya Kakooza set Ssenkaaba to net the late goal.

Police goalkeeper Abdul Kimera denied Express twice when he kept out efforts from Charles Musiige and Senkaaba while Mahad Yaya’s effort went an inch wide.

It would have been a different story though if Mubarak Nsubuga’s shot that hit the post found its way into the net.

The defeat is the fifth from as many games for Police FC, their worst start to the season in recent memory.

The Red Eagles who welcomed head coach Wasswa Bbosa from suspension, have collected seven points.

This is their second win from five games having defeated BUL and drawn with Vipers on the back of losses against Arua Hill and UPDF.

What Next – After the International break, Police take a long trip to visit Onduparaka while Express will welcome rivals SC Villa at Wankulukuku on November 20.
