Preview: SC Villa Want To Build On Perfect Start

SC Villa host Wakiso Giants at Kavumba in the only league game this Wednesday.

This will be the second game for the Jogoos who missed their opening games due to licensing issues.

They beat Police FC 1-0 to get off the mark last week and will be targeting to extend their dream start.

“After the performance of the first game, we raise the bar high and the expectations of the fans,” SC Villa coach Petros Koukouras told The-SportsNation.

“Now we have the motivation to win both matches before the international break and enjoy the days we will have ahead of us in order to prepare for the game against Express. It is a huge motivation for us because we need to keep the momentum.”

The Greek coach added: “We had a few days to prepare for the game. We have seen a few games they played and we know what to expect.

“We have to stick in our plan and work hard to win the match. If we play according to our potential I believe we can be the winning side.”

The visitors on the other hand, have won their last two games after a poor start that saw head coach Douglas Bamweyana throw in a towel.

Elevated from assistant to head coach, Alex Gitta said that they are confident for a positive result.

He is quoted by the club: “They (SC Villa) have played only one game but we know the quality of the players they have, their playing style and capabilities. We have studied them well and will apply an approach that will give us all points.”

Last season, Salim Abdallah scored twice to rescue a point for Villa after Wakiso Giants had taken the lead through Kipson Atuheire and Joseph Nsubuga own goal. The second leg tie, just like in 2019/20 season was not played due to Covid19.

The first ever meeting between the two sides in the league saw Villa beat Wakiso under floodlights on Independence day of 2019 thanks to goals from Amir Kakomo and David Owori.
