Three Penalties As UPDF Squander Two-Goal Lead

Three Penalties were awarded in the first ever military derby between UPDF and new entrants Gadaffi FC in a top flight encounter at Bombo.

UPDF scored one and missed the other while Gadaffi FC scored their retaken penalty after it was initially saved.

The hosts surrendered a two-goal lead to draw with Mubarak Wamboya’s side at a Waterlogged pitch after the kickoff was delayed due to rain.

Medi Kyeyune scored a brace for UPDF and had a chance to complete his hat-trick and win the game for the hosts but his second penalty was saved by Mutebi Ronald.

Kyeyune gave the hosts the lead from the spot before completing his brace with a tap in from Salim Huud cross to double their lead.

Gadaffi pulled one back for the visitors through captain Waiswa Andrew.

Hassan Musana levelled for the visitors from the spot at the stroke of halftime having retaken the penalty after Kalumba’s spot was saved when the Goalkeeper moved off his line.

With 15 minutes to the end of the game, the hosts won another penalty but Medi Kyeyune missed it thanks to Mutebi’s save.

The draw means that both sides are still level on five points with UPDF sitting 8th while Gadaffi are 9th.

What next for both sides – UPDF will return to action on Saturday 6th against Mbarara City at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground a game that was postponed due to heavy rain while Gadaffi FC will welcome Arua Hill at the Gadaffi Arena on Friday 19th November after the International break.
