Gadaffi FC coach Mubarak Wamboya commended his players after they showed a “high level of commitment and spirit of Warriors” after their 2-2 draw with UPDF FC
Gaddafi fought from two goals down to salvage a point at Bombo in a league game on Wednesday.
Medi Kyeyune scored from the spot before completing his brace with a tap in and doubling the hosts lead.
However, captain Waiswa Andrew pulled one back for the visitors before Hassan Musana levelled the game from the spot after it was retaken when Brian Kalumba saw his spot saved by the Goalkeeper had moved from the line.
“The team spirit, I don’t know what I can give my players but they have shown spirit of warriors, the spirit of commitment, the spirit of fighting,” said an excited Wamboya.
After a slow start to the season, Wamboya’s side has picked five points in the last three games; a win against Bright Stars and two draws against Tooro United and UPDF after losing their opening two games against Busoga United and KCCA.
“These are great players, I told you that gradually we are improving, UPDF is a tough team, they were at home but you saw how we played and it was exactly how we planned.
“We were almost getting the three points but we managed to pick one away, one point is better than nothing and we shall build on that.”
The Game was delayed due to heavy rain but Wamboya says he had plan B: “You know we have to be with plan B when the rain comes the tactics changes.
“The three games we have played, rain has not allowed is to play the football we need – the flowing game but am happy we have collected a point away from home.”
Gadaffi have collected 5 points from 5 games and they sit 9th on the table.
The Soldier Boys will return to action after the International break on 19th November against Arua Hill at the Gadaffi Arena.
