Lucky Kasalirwe: FUFA Suspends Another Referee

FUFA Referees Disciplinary panel has suspended another referee Kasalirwe Lucky for improper Officiating during the game between Gaddafi against Soltilo Bright Stars, in a game that saw the hosts come as eventual winners on the day.

It is said that Kasalirwe cancelled a would a be genuine goal for Soltito Bright stars, a decision that later on affected the match results on the day, after Gaddafi edging by 1-0.

As a result , the disciplinary panel has found the referee guilty and therefore action had to be taken.

“Accordingly for failure to recognise a foul or no foul situation thus cancelling a genuine goal for Soltito Bright stars, the FUFA Referee Disciplinary Panel hereby sanctions Kasalirwe Lucky with a three weeks suspension from football officiation of the Uganda Premier League effective immediately as of 2nd November 2021. That is 6 match days from match day 7 to match day 12, a Fufa Statement reads signed by Ali Tomusange, Chairman referee disciplinary Panel.

Further more, the Federation has it that should Kasalirwe not heed to the sanction above, the Referee disciplinary panel shall take more stringent actions against him.

The incident in question happened on October, 29th at the Gaddafi arena in Jinja, a contest that started at 4:30pm after a rainy day.

In a game that was played behind closed doors, it is said that Bright Stars forward Emmanuel Loki had put the Visitors ahead, heading in off a Simon Ssemayange’s cross, but referee Kasalirwe just waved for a foul on goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi.

This decision later on affected the game after substitute James Otim scored late in added time to hand the hosts three points on the day.

Kasalirwe now joins the list of referees that have been suspended this Season. The other two are Ronald Kirangwa who was banned for poor Officiating during Vipers riot against Wakiso Giants at Kitende and Bakasembe Rajab for his mistakes in Express, Vipers draw.
