Anwar Ntege’s Double Helps Busoga Overcome Tooro United

Friday, November 5
*Tooro United 1-3 Busoga United

Anwar Ntege scored a brace to inspire Busoga United past Tooro United in the Uganda Premier League clash at Buhinga Stadium.

He scored the opener from the spot after Ponsiano Ssegonja handled Hamis Tibita’s effort in the forbidden area.

Marvin Oshaba levelled matters when he sent goalkeeper Michael Nantamu the wrong way from the spot in the 54th minute.

Shaka Ssozi slotted in with a left foot just 20 minutes to end of the game after Tooro United’s defence was beaten by an over-the-top ball for Busoga United to regain advantage.

Ntege then put the game to bed. He was unmarked to head in a beautiful cross from Peter Onzima.

Tooro United looked impressive at the start of the second half and almost equalised but goalkeeper Nantamu produced a double save to deny Martin Arinaitwe’s freekick and Mark Nsubuga’s rebounding header.

But they were fortunate to get a penalty in what was a contentious decision by referee Hamza Katende as Nicholas Mwebe looked to have cleanly cleared away the ball.

When Oshaba pounced in the equaliser, it looked like the least Tooro United would get from the game was a point, but the side was hard done by poor defending as Busoga United walked away with maximum points.

Its a second loss in a row for Coach Edward Golola and his charges but the former Vipers tactician will hope to change the tidings as the league takes an international break.

Its the second win for Abbey Bogere Kikomeko’s Busoga United after the side opened the campaign with an away win at Gaddafi FC in the Jinja derby.

Busoga United who have snapped a two-game losing run, moves to seventh with six points, two above Tooro in 12th.

What Next – Tooro United will seek to make amends when they visit Wakiso Giants on November 19 while Busoga United will host Bright Stars the following day at Njeru.
