Uganda Cranes: Allan Okello Among 10 Foreign Based Players Summoned

Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredejovich will add 10 foreign based players to local contingent for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.

Paradou FC attacking midfielder Allan Okello makes a return to the National team fold, The-SportsNation can exclusively report.

The former KCCA FC player has had a torrid spell since joining the Algerian outfits and returned to Paradou in September after spending some weeks in Lira.

The Algerian League kicked off in October and Okello started both league games for Paradou last month against ASO Chief and MC Oran to help the side go joint top.

The list seen by this website also includes Bevis Mugabi who is yet to play a single game for Uganda at the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers.

Mugabi missed the last double-header against Rwanda as Uganda is on UK red list per Covid19 travel restrictions.

Three goalkeepers Mathias Kigonya, Charles Lukwago and Ismail Watenga have been summoned as well.

Captain Aucho Khalid, Moses Waiswa, Isaac Muleme, Fahad Bayo and Timothy Awany have been included.

Emmanuel Okwi who recently joined Kiyovu, Simba SC midfielder Taddeo Lwanga and Montreal Impact defender Mustafa Kizza miss out.

Uganda faces Kenya on November 11 at Kitende and Mali three days later.

The team of locally based players started the preparations with a regional tour against Northern Region Select side on Thursday.

Uganda Cranes sit second in Group E with eight points, two below leaders Mali.

The Cranes will reach the playoff round if they win both of the two games next week.
