Video: Tanzania U20 Player Suspended For Confronting Referee, Assistant

CECAFA Disciplinary Committee has suspended Tanzania Player Fumukazi Ally Nguruwe for “unsporting behavior.”

Nguruwe confronted match officials during the Cecafa Women U20 championship match between Tanzania and Ethiopia on Wednesday at Njeru.

There were ugly scenes when Tanzania players and officials attacked the referee and her assistant after their would-be equaliser was correctly cancelled for off-side.

Tanzania’s Nguruwe was sent-off by referee Darlene Nduwayo for a shovel on the assistant referee.

Nguruwe has been suspended for three games!

“After assessing the match commissioner and referees’ report, and display of video evidence, the committee observed that during the match between Tanzania and Ethiopia on November 3rd at Njeru, Nguruwe confronted the referee and grabbed the flag from the 1st assistant referee.

“CECAFA suspended Nguruwe for three matches organised by CECAFA.”

Two Tanzania U20 Women’s team players Emeliana Isaya Mbimu and Mwanamvua Seif Haruna have been warned after they pushed the 1st Assistant referee.

The Tanzania team kit manager Esther Fred Chabruma has also been suspended for one match of the tournament.

Cecafa has said that Chabruma used abusive language towards the 1st Assistant Referee.

Tanzania Women’s U20 team has also been fined US500 for acts of indiscipline and confronting the referee.
