Petros Koukouras: SC Villa Coach Predicts ‘Tough’ Season

SC Villa coach Petros Koukouras says its going to be a difficult season for his side but has urged everyone at the team not to panic.

The Jogoos who missed the first three games of the season due to licensing issues, have three points after two games.

They lost to Wakiso Giants in their last league game to drop to 14th on the league table.

On how the players are reacting after that loss, Koukouras noted: “We sat down and we talked as a team about the game. We all know that defeats are part of the game but it was unacceptable the way it came. 3 goals in 25 minutes and all came from crosses.”

“It is our responsibility from the coaching department to guide those young players in order to do better in the future and stay concentrated for 90 minutes.

“It would be very easy and convenient to blame individuals for what happen but football is a team sport. We stayed united and I believe this game brought us even closer. we have to stay together in good and bad times.”

Next for Villa is a league game against main rivals Express FC at Wankulukuku after the International break on November 20.

On preparations for the game, Koukouras said: “We have 2 weeks to prepare for our next game and we need to increase the workload in order to be fully fit for the game against Express.”

The team held a Gym session on Monday to kickstart their week program. “Gym sessions are part of our routine as it’s an essential part of our preparation.”

Work is cut out for the Greek coach who has a youthful and inexperienced squad at his disposal.

But the gaffer is aware of the work at his hands and unfazed.

He added: “We should not panic after a bad result. We know is going to be a tough season for us. We know we are going to have ups and downs in our performance when we include so many u20s in the team but we have to build character and learn how to take what we want from the games even in our bad days.

“For us the game against Wakiso Giants is in the past and we have already focused on our next match which is going to be one of the toughest games of the season.”
