FUFA Big League side Kyetume FC earned a perfect start into the new season of the FUFA Big League after their 3-1 win against Luweero United on Sunday.

Goals from Baker Buyala, Steven Kabuye and Ezera Kaye Kizito ensured that the Slaughters got off the mark as they target a return to the top flight league.

Luweero’s new signing Mudali Derrick scored the only goal for his side as they started on the sad note.

Playing at home in Nakisunga, Kyetume who were relegated last season from UPL, started the better side having the biggest lion’s share of the ball.

They came closest but Emmanuel Kalyowa saw his effort from a free kick fly wide.

Finally, Buyala broke the deadlock in the 24th minute heading in home off a perfect cross from Ezera Kaye Kizito to put the hosts ahead.

However their lead didn’t last for long as the visitors levelled matters seven minutes later through Mudali who scored a screamer.

Four minutes later, Midfielder Kabuye restored his side’s lead, heading in home after he was set up by Baker Buyala, putting his side ahead before half time.

At the restart of the second stanza, the Visitors were dorminant but failed to have clear cut chances infront of the goal.

But in the 73rd minute, Kaye, who was impressive on the day saw his deflected effort from a free kick go into the back of the net to make it three.

There on, the Slaughters held on to take all the three points on the day.

Victory saw Kyetume move to the top of the league, thanks to their good goal margin after just one game played. For Luweero United, they suffer their fist loss in the season and they will pick up lessons going into the second game.

What Next – Kyetume will host Kitara FC next week on Thursday 18th November. For Luwero, they will have to wait for Official communication from the Federation after their would be opponent Water FC was excluded from the final Big League fixtures.
