The Invite: Betway Power Misses Out On Semis

Betway Power lost to Namuwongo Blazers in their second Group game to miss out on a place in the semis next weekend.

Power, who lost to Falcons on day one, finishes the Invitational tournament bottom of the three-team Group A.

Nam Blazers and Falcons qualify through Group A and are joined by UCU Canons and UPDF Tomahawks from Group B to the semis.

The inaugural Power Invitational tournament is played every Saturday at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

On Saturday, Power were beaten by the Blazers 69-63 in a closely contested affair.

Power trailer by just two points at halftime but failed to stage a comeback against a team with some of their former players like Joseph Ikong and Paul Odong McGaiver.

Namuwongo’s David ‘Dikong’ Deng led the way with 24 points to win the Player of the match, a prestige that is awarded with a Bluetooth Speaker.

Standing in as Nam Blazers coach, Syrus Kiviiri stated: “We are proud that the ball is bouncing again and we are building momentum with each game played. We are played with who we face in the next round.”

In the other game, Takan Lokeris lost to UCU Canons in overtime to bow out of the competition.

The game was tied 55-55 after the fourth quarter before UCU Canons persevered to cross the line and hence top Group B.
