Busoga United and Bright Stars played out to a goalless draw in a Uganda Premier League game at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru on Friday.

In a game that saw limited chances, there was nothing to separate the two sides.

This was the first game for Simon Mugerwa who was named in interim role after the club sacked Baker Mbowa at Bright Stars.

The hosts could have been up before the interval but defender Andy Kyambadde cleared his lines at the stoke of half time while Shaka Ssozi shot wide when put through on goal by Elvis Ngonde.

For the Visitors, Nelson Senkatuka had the best chance but his free-kick was parried away by goalkeeper Nantamu Michael for a corner in the second stanza.

The only positive thing Mugerwa will take is that they kept their first cleansheet in the season.

“We had a lot of possession in the first half but without penetrating. We came back in the second half and gave out many tackles in our half,” stated Mugerwa.

“But the positive we can take is that we pick our first cleansheet since we had conceded in our last four games. We want to go back and build on that so as to get a win in our next game.

“We wanted to score but we shall rectify a few things so that we can start scoring goals in our next games.”

The result saw Busoga United move to seven points from their first five opening games of the season (W2, D1, L2).

For Bright Stars, they pick their second point in the season after five games.

What Next- Busoga United will be away to UPDF next week on Friday November 26th while Bright Stars welcome Tooro United on the same day at Kavumba recreation Grounds in Wakiso.
