Airtel Masaza Cup: Gomba Have Eyes on History

Gomba FC will seek to become the first team ever to defend their title as the 2021 Airtel Masaza Cup gets underway at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Coached by Ibrahim Kirya, Gomba Lions beat Buddu FC 3-1 to clinch the title at St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on March 6 this year.

The side will seek to exorcise those demons when they start their journey against Kyadondo in a Masengere Group on Saturday.

They have won the title a record five times, including in 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2017.

Kyadondo on the other hand, have One title to their name that came in 2008.

Now coached by Anthony Ssekito, the side will seek to do better than last season where they failed to get out of the Masengere Group.

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi will grace the opening match, Buganda Kingdom earlier confirmed.
