Vipers 0-2 URA FC
St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende
URA FC handed Vipers SC their first league loss following their 2-0 victory at Kitende on Saturday evening.
Two goals – one each half – from Joachiam Ojera and Cromwel Rwothomio ensured that the Tax Collectors picked maximum points at Kitende.
Coming into this game, Vipers had not lost any League game, winning 4 of their first five opening fixtures.
However against URA, they failed to pass the test as they lost on the day.
Vipers, who started the better side threatened first but Milton Karisa saw his header hit the cross bar in the 5th minute.
Despite Vipers dorminance, the Visitors remained composed as they waited for their moment to get them at the break.
Finally in the 17th minute, Ojera broke the deadlock, slotting in home off a pass from Steven Mukwala.
The only best chance for Vipers to level matter before the interval came in the 25th minute but Skipper Halid Lwaliwa headed wide off Bright Anukani’s free kick.
At the stroke of half time, URA will have defender Hudu Mulikyi to thank after he made a timely clearance off his lines to deny the Venoms.
At the restart of the second half, it was Vipers on the song as they launched numerous attacks to level matters, with the visitors waiting to catch them on the break.
Despite their dormimance, Vipers barely threatened as they failed to break down a well composed URA defence that looked compact throughout the evening.
At the hour mark, Mutombora was called into action and he was at full strech to deny Saidi Kyeyune’s long range effort from a freekick.
Moments later, Bobosi Byaruhanga saw his effort outside the area go just inches wide .
Throughout the evening, Vipers defense looked shaky and they were always caught off guard on various occassions by pacy forwards Mukwala and Rwothomio.
In the 77th minute, Cromwel doubled his side’s lead slotting in home after Vipers goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora’s failed to deal with Ashraf Mandela’s low cross.
There on, the Visitors, who were brilliant on the day could have scored more but Mukwala missed with a keeper to beat before Captain Shafik Kagimu shot wide after being set up by substitute Viane Ssekajugo.
