Maroons Goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol survived a send-off as his side played to a 1-1 with Ndejje University FC in a pulsating FUFA Big League game in Luzira.

Akol was initially given a red card for elbowing Ndejje University player Norman Ndyamuhaki in the closing stages but after he strongly protested his innocence and referee consulting the linesman, the red card was rescinded.

Maroons took the lead through Fred Amaku who was in the right place to pounce on a neat cross from Emmanuel Olinga in the 33rd minute.

Ndejje University will feel hard done for the goal to stand after Olinga was miles offside before delivering that assist.

However, few minutes later, Ndejje University restored parity when Reagan Mpande scored from the spot after goalkeeper Akol’s foul inside the area.

Opio Belmas saw his glancing header from the corner collected by Ndejje University goalkeeper Jeans Braddy Wokorach.

And later Wokorach later came out of his goal to deny Amaku after he was put through by Musa Ssali.

Mpande almost won it late for the Visitors but he missed a glorious chance to beat Akol who was alert to make a good save.

Ndejje University arrived late at Luzira and kickoff was taken 20 minutes past 3pm. The visitors also lost Josephat Ayebale to injury and was whisked away by an ambulance.
