*Wakiso Giants 4-2 Bright Stars
Wakiso Giants registered a 4-2 victory over Bright Stars in a league game held at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha on Tuesday.
Goals from defender Edward Satulo, Ivan Bogere, Pius Kaggwa and an own goal from Derrick Ngobi ensured that the Purple Sharks took all the bragging rights in the Wakiso Derby.
James Angu on the other hand scored twice for Bright Stars as they suffered another defeat on the road.
The Visitors who had picked their first win in their previous game against Tooro United, earned a perfect start into this game after Angu put them ahead in the 2nd minute.
However, despite conceding an early goal, the hosts dominated play and it wasn’t a surprise that they scored two goals in a two-minute space.
In the 19th minute, defender Satulo headed in home to level matters before Bogere doubled his side’s lead, heading in off a well crafted cross from left back Simon Namwanja.
Later in the 35th minute, James Angu headed in home off a well weighed cross from Marvin Joseph to restore parity for his side, putting the game back to level before the interval.
The Giants could have scored more but missed on various occassions. Tom Masiko saw his free kick parried away for a corner, Ivan Bogere missed when in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.
For the Visitors, they had a Penalty appeal turned down after Loki seemed to have been brought down in the box, after Senkatuka had set him up.
At the restart of the second half, the hosts lanched more attacks and it didn’t take them ages to score.
In the 51st minute, Bright Stars defender Derrick Ngobi connected into his own net off a pass from Pacy forward Kimbowa Sharif to put the hosts ahead again.
Moments later, Giants head coach Alex Gitta made some quick changes with Pius Kaggwa coming in for Tom Matsiko, a move that later paid off.
At the hour mark, off the bench, Kaggwa made it four, with a fine strike to put the game far beyond the Visitors reach.
However, Bright Stars will rue some missed chances later on after conceding twice in the second half.
Goalscorer Angu headed wide off a cross from substitute Jungu Methodius before Marvin Youngman shot wide when infront of goal.
There on, the Giants who were brilliant on the day. held on to bag all three points on the day and as will get their maiden win against Bright Stars.
Wakiso Giants, who picked their fifth win in the season now move to the second position on 15 points collected from eight games.
For Bright Stars, they suffer their fourth defeat of the season and they remain with only five points from their opening seven games.
What Next – Bright Stars will be away to UPDF on Sunday 5th while Wakiso Giants return to action on Tuesday next week as they face Onduparaka away from home.
