KCCA FC Takes Care of Police to Maintain Grip on Summit

KCCA returned to winning ways following their 3-1 victory against Police FC in a league game held at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday.

Goals from Davis Kasirye, Charles Lwanga and Rogers Mato ensured that Byekwaso’s men picked maximum points in the Lugogo derby.

Juma Balinya scored the only goal for Police FC as they suffered another loss in a difficult season.

Coming into this game, KCCA who had picked a 2-all draw against Vipers at Kitende and were missing some key players, did just enough to get the job done against Abdallah Mubiru’s charges.

Police earned a dream start and were ahead in the 5th minute, through Balinya who scored from the spot after Captain Tonny Mawejje was fouled in the area.

However, depsite conceding first, KCCA picked up themselves, started creating chances and it wasn’t a surprise they scored two goals before the break.

In the 17th minute, lanky forward Kasirye rose highest to nod in home a well delivered cross rom Kigozi Andrew to put the game back to terms.

Eight minites later, pacy forward Lwanga doubled his side’s lead, scoring from a rebound after Brian Majwega’s initial effort had been parried away by Police goalkeeper Tom Ikara.

KCCA, who were dorminant could have scored more before the interval but missed on various occassions.
Lwanga Charles saw his effort saved by Ikara before exciting Midfielder Usama Arafat headed wide when infront of goal.

For the Cops, Yusuf Ssozi headed wide off a well taken free kick from Duncan Sseninde and it revealed more work had to be done in the last 45 minutes.

At the restart of the second stanza, KCCA continued with their dorminance but had to wait till late in the game to seal off their Victory.

The introduction of Kawooya Andrew, who came on for Bukenya Joseph brought in more fresh legsas KCCA launched more attacks to kill off the game.

With three minutes to play, Mato tapped in home off a pass from Kawooya, to seal a routine win for KCCA against the Cops.

Victory ensured that KCCA moved to 26 points and remained on top of the log after ten games. ( W8, D2).

For Police FC, their woes continue as they remain winless after ten games and sit rock bottom with just three points. (L7, D3, W0)

What Next- KCCA will be away to Sc Villa next week on Saturday at Njeru while Police FC will host Busoga United on the same day at Lugogo.
