Ugandan midfielder Boban Zirintusa bagged a hat-trick as his side Mtibwa Sugar eliminated second tier side Tunduma United in the league cup with a 7-1 score line.

Despite struggling in the league, Mtibwa eased past Tunduma with Zirintusa setting the tone as early as the 11th minute.

The former Busoga United player got his second of the game in the 36th minute and completed his hat-trick with just eight minutes in the return of the second stanza in the 53rd minute.

The other four goals were scored by JoJo Mkele, Aboutriker, George Makanga and Ally Makarani for Mtibwa. Tunduma United’s consolation was scored by Isaya.

Mtibwa who sit second from the bottom of the log with just 5points collected in the 8ganes played move to the next round of the league cup where they join other top tier sides like Azam, Simba and others.

In the other fixture between Young African against Ihefu FC, Ugandan Khalid Aucho was on the score sheet as Young African eliminated Ihefu FC on a 4-0 score line to progress to the next stage of the league cup.
