Preview: Vipers Seek to Keep Pressure on KCCA

Vipers will be going for maximum points when they face hosts Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation centre.

The Venoms laboured to a 1-0 win over Tooro United and after KCCA FC were held to a draw at Villa, they are just four points adrift of the leaders with a game in hand.

A win against Bright Stars will see the gap reduced to one, and pressure will be on KCCA FC who face defending champions Express at Lugogo on Wednesday.

The Venoms looked sloppy against Tooro United, missing chance after chance, and needed a Manzoki’s 70th minute goal to win the struggling side.

Coach Roberto Oliveira showed his frustrations with his forward but commended his players for the fighting spirit.

The biggest positive from that win was that even on a bad day, they managed to squeeze out an important win.

Such is the spirit that Vipers will need if they are to take this season’s title.

However, Vipers will be aware that Bright Stars will pose more serious questions that Tooro United.

Bright Stars have been poor this season, and sit just a place above the relegation zone by goal difference. They are a shadow of themselves having finished fifth last season.

But a positive result against Vipers may turn their season around and get back on track.
