Preview: Rejuvenated Police FC welcome Struggling Stars

In-form Police FC will welcome League Strugglers Bright Stars at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Wednesday.

Despite a poor start into the new season, Police FC have started winning games as seen in their last two league encounters.

They beat Busoga United 3-1 at home, before picking the same result against Tooro United in the previous game, a win that elevated them out of the red zone. It is a big motivation to a side that lost six out of six opening games this season.

Back at home against Bright Stars, they will be targeting a third consecutive win on the bounce so as to finish the year on positve note.

Bright Stars on the other hand are yet to find a winning rythm since the start of the season and are currently sitted third from the bottom.

They have only managed one win in as many games this season. Surely, it has been a poor start to a side that finished 5th last season.

Speaking ahead of the contest, head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa says they need to start winning games so as to leave the relegation zone.

“We are prepared to go for three points, we need to start winning games, we have been very close to doing so but we haven’t scored the goals that were needed. But we have worked on that, we want to close the gap and leave the red zone. It’s a tricky game but it’s a game we must win, he told the Club’s media.”

Having it mind that a win at Lugogo elevates them from the red zone, Bright Stars will have all their eyes on maximum points to end the year on a high.

Police FC currently sit in the 13th position on the log with 9 points collected from 12 games so far.( W2, D3, L7)

They have won twice and drawn three in their last League outings.

Bright Stars sit in the 14th position with 7 points after 11 games played. ( W1, D4, L6)

They are yet to pick a win in the last five league encounters ever since their maiden win against Tooro United ( L3, D2).
