Uganda Martyrs Win Inaugural Women Beach Soccer Tournament

Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga were crowned champions of the inaugural 2021 End of year Women Beach Soccer Festival.

The Lubaga based side beat Nansana Ladies 3-1 in the finals played on Friday 31st December 2021 at Mutoola Beach in Mukono.

To reach the finals, Uganda Martyrs beat KJT 2-1 at the semi final stage while Nansana Ladies took care of Prison Ladies 3-2.

This was the first edition of the Women Beach Soccer organised by Uganda women Football Association and it was graced by ten teams including Super league and non league teams.

Catherine Nagadya finished as the top scorer with 9 goals and also the Most Valuable Player given her outstanding performances. Her teammate Daphine Nyayenga emerged as the Best goalkeeper.

“I’m so happy to win this award, and glad to be winners of this tournament. It means a lot to me because I have never had any chance to win a trophy. We worked as a team and we emerged as champions, Nagadya told the Pressmen Upon receiving her award.”

Meanwhile, Mutoola Ladies went home with the fair play award at this year’s Women Beach Soccer Festival.
