Saturday, 8th January
Vipers 1-1 BUL, Kitende
SC Villa 0-0 UPDF, Njeru
URA 1-0 KCCA, Ndejje
Onduparaka 4-2 Tooro United, Arua
Second half substitute Simon Peter Oketch scored at the death as Bul FC picked a vital point against Vipers SC in a league game held at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Saturday.
Oketch benefited from Allan Kayiwa’s hauler in the 93rd minute to send a powerful shot past a helpless Fabien Mutombora.
BUL’s defender Walter Ochola had earlier on connected into his own net to put the hosts into the lead in the 47th Minute.
Playing at home, Vipers looked a Shadow of themselves as they failed to control the game from the opening exchanges.
However, they will rue missed chances as they missed a couple before the interval.
Ceaser Manzoki and Yunus Sentamu both missed with just a keeper to beat early on before Bright Anukani saw his powerful shot outside the area saved for a corner in what was a frustrating first half for Roberto Oliveira’s men.
At the restart of the second, Vipers came back a rejuvenated side and it wasn’t late when they broke the deadlock in the 47th minute through Ochola who connected into his own net off a well laid cross from Milton Karisa.
The hosts had chances to score more but missed on various occassions on a day they would have ended with a better goal margin.
Sentamu missed with just a tap in off a well laid pass from Karisa, substitute Ibrahim Orit saw his effort go wide when outside the area before Najib Yiga sent his shot in the hands of Saidi Keni.
However, despite conceding at the restart of the second half, the Visitors remained composed and they looked like they would score at any time against a Vipers defence that looked shaky throughout the game.
And with the game heading into Vipers way, Kayiwa who was infront of his own goal, lost possession to gift Oketch who made no mistake to put the ball into the back of the net to see his side walk away with a vital point away from home.
Vipers now fail to leapfrog leaders KCCA FC who lost to URA at Bombo on Saturday. The Venoms now remain in the second place with 30 points after 14 games so far.
For Bul FC, they as well remain in the fourth position with 26 points collected from 15 games.
What Next- Vipers will host SC Villa in a rescheduled game on Wednesday next week to finish their first round games. For Bul they will welcome Vipers on 9th Feb as they kick start their second round games.
