Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants hope to have an easy progress to the Round Of 32 against Buganda Regional League side Kiyinda Boys in the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the Ssaza Ground in Mityana.
Wakiso Giants last season was eliminated at the quarter final stage by Police on away goal rules after a 3-3 aggregate score. They lost 3-1 in Lugogo before winning 2-0 at home.
The Purple Sharks eliminated Water and Tooro United enroute to the Quarterfinals last season and will hope for another strong Cup run this season.
Wakiso Giants head coach Alex Gitta is wary of the threat posed by the lower teams but he says their aim is to progress to the next round and they will take the game serious.
“Kiyinda has been in the third division for quite some time, we know they boost of some experienced players,” Gitta stated.
“They are doing well in their league and though we don’t know much about them but I watched them in Masaka on Sunday and I now know what threats they pose.
“We are well set that we shall counteract them being that we have had an avenue we played friendlies with one team from Mityana and other Regional League sides so we know how to approach the game.
“We want to go as far as possible in the competition and we shall take the game against Kiyinda Boys very serious well aware that’s its a knock out competition.”
Kiyinda Boys sit Second in the Buganda Regional League Katonga group with 9 points in 3 matches.
The Buganda Regional League side defeated Buwambo FC 1-0 in the Preliminary round before overcoming Kakiri Town Council 1-0 in the second round and a 3-1 victory over Masaka City ensured their place to the round of 64.
