Four UPL Players in South Sudan Squad For Friendlies

South Sudan National Team’s Head Coach Stefano Cusin has included four Uganda Premier league players in his 25 man squad that is set to travel to Dubai this Wednesday for two international friendlies.

The final squad was made during Bright Star’s training at Buluk Playground, when Cusin made the final list for the team to compete in the friendly matches between Uzbekistan and Jordan in Dubai at the end of this month.

The four said Uganda Premier league players are Arua Hill’s defender Rashid Toha, Bright Stars Emmanuel Loki, Ivan Wani from Bul FC and Vipers right back Data Elly, who have always been regular in South Sudan’s national team.

The Cusin coached side will meet Uzbekistan on the 27th of January in Dubai before facing Jordan on 31st this month.

While speaking to the press, South Sudan head coach Stefano Cusin expressed the team’s readiness ahead of the two friendlies.

“The players are fully ready physically and mentally to perform well, although both Uzbekistan and Jordan’s FIFA rankings are better than ours, this is still a chance for us to perform to our level best and come back home with good result. There is also a need for our team to play against teams with higher rankings – it will not only build our confidence, but as well giving our players chances to showcase their talents to the world,” he stated.

In his final remarks, Cusin assured the South Sudan Football Association that he wants to take the team to the next Africa Cup of Nations.

Former Vipers Forward Tito Okello, who is now at Kenya’s Gormhia was also named in the 25 man squad the two game.
