Stanbic Uganda Cup: SC Villa Seek To Avoid Early Exit

SC Villa are in the North to face Gulu’s Super Eagles FC in a pending round of 64 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup fixture.

Intially, the said contest had been scheduled to take place last month on 19th this very year.

However, on their way to northern Uganda, SC Villa bus got a tire blow out at Mijeera nakasongola and a number of players, officials sustained injuries and had to received medical attention.

Following the sudden events , the Federation postponed the game to a later date so as to give room for Sc Villa to reorganise.

The Jogoos come into this tie off a seven-game winless run in the league, with an aggregate score of 2-8 during that run, something head coach Petros Koukuras wants to change going forward.

“Well it’s true our season isn’t going on well but now every game is a final. We should have got points in the previous games, unfortunately we didn’t manage to do so, no body is happy about this, we know the fans are not happy but we work everyday here to improve. From now on wards, every game is a final, he told the club’s media.

On the preparations for this game, Koukouras added “We tried to prepare the best way we can, we didn’t have enough time t prepare for this game as we had two training sessions. We worked more on set pieces because this has been particularly our weakness throughout the whole season and we have to keep improving not only in the cup but also in the league.”

Recently, the club parted ways with Coaches Mubarak Kiberu and Richard Amatre given the poor run of results of at the club.

With the current situation at the Joggos, it has been understood that Koukouras’ future is still in doubt and the game against Super Eagles will prove to be another test for the Greek coach.

If they negotiate past Super Eagles, Villa will meet fellow rival side Express FC who have already booked a place at the round of 32.
