Uganda Cranes: Miya, Okwi Back As Micho Summons 35

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has summoned a squad of 35 players to start preparations for the upcoming 2022 Navruz Cup in Uzbekistan.

The four-nation tournament due 25-29 March, will kick start Uganda Cranes preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will get underway in June this year.

Uganda will seek a return to AFCON having missed the recently concluded edition in Cameroon.

Ukraine-based Farouk Miya and captain Emmanuel Okwi who plies his trade in Rwanda and Egyptian-based Allan Kyambadde have been included in the squad after missing recent engagements for the National team.

Big names like Ismail Watenga, Isaac Muleme, Bevis Mugabi, Timothy Awany, Khalid Aucho, Moses Waiswa, Allan Okello and Fahad Bayo are part of the 35-man provisional squad.

The tournament that will be played in Markaziy Stadium in Namangan City will see Uganda face lesser known teams like Tajikstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgz Republic.

Uganda will also have a couple of internal friendlies before naming a final squad of 23 players to Uzbekistan.
