The top of the table clash between Mutoola BSC and Jinja Lions will open up the third outing of FUFA Beach Soccer League at FUFA Technical Centre.
The two will hope to end the day on top of log with the winner more likely to be at the summit despite having to play two matches on the day.
Both Mutoola and Jinja Lions are on six points after two matches with a goal Difference of four but Mutoola have scored more goals (9) compared to Jinja Lion’s five.
Mutoola have scored the highest goals in the league so far while Jinja Lions have conceeded the least goals (one).
It will be a battle of the best scoring team and best defensive team.
When addressing the media ahead of the game, Mutoola BSC head coach Salim Muwonge said they are not only focusing on the game with Jinja North BSC but every game ahead of them.
“What matters alot is not Jinja Lions but how we play and how we handle our games” Muwonge started.
He adds “We won the last two games but not winning the way we like so we have to make sure that each and every game we improve but not focusing only on Jinja Lions”.
“Actually what we are playing right now is new to them so we have to keep on training and keep on reminding them to play the way we want”.
“The league is a marathon, it’s not yet done, being on the table is not important to me but winning each and every game is what matters to me because if we win every game we shall stay on top but if we lose then we drop”.
After Jinja Lions, Salim Muwonge side will face MS Sand Lions the same day.
Mutoola comes into this game after defeating MUBS 3-1 courtesy of Sharif Apuuli, Paul Nsege and an own goal from Abima Herbert.
Mutoola were also 6-4 winners over Grace Church in the opener.
Against Mutoola BSC, Jinja Lions will bank on their defensive capabilities however they will be wary of their low scoring instincts against the highest Scorers.
They will hope to build on their opening two wins over Buganda Royal (3-1) and Kiringente BSC (2-0).
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Jinja Lions BSC head coach Ivan Kulika says he will do whatever it takes to win the game since his eyeing playoff places.
“We have prepared very well and we are expecting to have a good game against Mutoola BSC” Kulika opened up.
The gaffer admits that they have to utilise their chances inorder to avoid scare.
“Of course we are worried because beach soccer is a funny game that you can conceed a goal at any time, so we failing to convert our chances shall put us at a very high risk”.
“Am also optimistic that much as we are failing to score, we are trying our very best to defend just like in the previous game were we kept a cleansheet, it’s not something to overlook”.
“I cannot just praise my defence but try so much to improve on the scoring rate & we hope that against Mutoola we shall score more goals”.
“Before the season began I had it in my mind that my team Jinja Lions BSC will win games because winning games means being in the top four we are going to play in the playoffs that’s what am up to and I will do whatever it takes to win games”.
In the previous game, Nicholas Mweru brace inspired the Sand kings to a 2-0 victory over Kiringente BSC.
With two games lined up on Sunday, their last game of the day will be against bottom side KIU.
